We’ve found our new favourite weekend brunch place! It’s a nice walk from River Height or if you’re driving, the neighbourhood has lots of parking. The coffee was rich and hot; the food delicious and fresh; and the service was prompt and attentive. Looking forward to next wknd… The Tallest Poppy serves delicious comfort food and drinks in West Broadway. Owner/operator Talia Syrie’s restaurant has relocated from it’s original incarnation in the Red Road Lodge on Main St to the historic Sherbrook Inn.
So we made our way to the till, where the aforementioned waitress was… She and another waitress decided to start up a conversation before assisting us… Then with a rather annoyed tone asked us where are bills were… The bill she didn’t bother to bring. She couldn’t remember our table, unsurprisingly.

The best chicken sandwich I have ever eaten, amazing cocktails, and very friendly and chill staff. I’ve had the fried chicken and waffles and I highly recommend it. If you like fried chicken, this place is ideal for you. While the selection on the menu and general atmosphere left me wanting, the waitstaff were energetic, enthusiastic, and adaptable. Throughout my time in the restaurant, they went from a nearly empty The Tallest Poppy Winnipeg, Mb R3c 2b5 space to a packed house, including multiple large tables. They greeted customers with verve and communicated throughout the night. Overall, a really good restaurant. I’ve had their breakfast burrito and fried chicken sandwich, both were excellent.

There was only a couple other couples there but the service still lacked. The staff was too busy sitting around a table and chatting with themselves. I ordered the chicken and waffles that I have heard so much about and I was more then let down.

Not pictured in the review was their burger, which the waitress stated would change our day/life. It was, with all other dishes just a great culinary experience. I will definitely come back here, and recommend anyone in the area or visiting,to stop by, you will not be disappointed.
- I ordered biscuits and gravy and got just that, some biscuits , but just normal beef gravy along with it.
